Sibling Class
Soon-to-be big brothers and sisters may not fully appreciate the beauty and excitement of a new addition to the household - even if they have been in this situation before. That's why this can be such an important class. It attempts to give siblings a sense of excitement about mom's pregnancy by promoting understanding of the growth and progress of the new baby. This class is not just educational, though, it's also fun. There are lots of pictures and some “hands on” activities. We will also make T-shirts that say “Big Brother" or "Big Sister.” Light refreshments will be served.
Infant Childcare Class
New moms will especially be interested in this one-night class on the care of newborn babies. The topics will be some that you have thought of and some that you may not have. Come discuss things such as nursing versus bottle feeding, proper nutrition for your baby, cloth versus disposable diapers, hygiene for your newborn, cord care, appropriate attire for your baby, signs that should prompt a visit to the ER
or pediatrician, etc. During this time you will have the benefit of receiving
good information and meeting other moms with whom you can communicate. This is a class that you will not regret taking. Light refreshments will be served.
Lactation Class
Even though the material in the lactation class is covered in just one night, it’s importance must not be underestimated. Breastfeeding is an incredible opportunity for bonding between moms and babies and may well be the most emotionally gratifying experiences that women ever have. This class helps moms to prepare by exploring topics such as proper positioning, proper latch and potential difficulties. Further, we answer all of your questions to include “how do I really know my baby is getting enough to eat?" Even if you have breast-fed before, but still have questions, or just want the support of other moms, please join us for a relaxing and information-filled evening. Light refreshments will be served.
