Birthing Services

Special Beginnings has two birthing rooms - the Bear room and the Rose room. Both have plenty of windows and hardwood floors that have recently been refinished. The Bear room, the smaller of the two, has a quaint and homey feel generated by a brass bed, blue and white accents and teddy bears all around. This room is just down the hall from the main bathroom where shower/bathtub, commode and pedistal lavatory await. The Rose room, the larger of the two, has a more elegant feel conveyed by a four-poster bed and slightly more luxurious furnishings. This room has its own bathroom facilities - a corner whirlpool tub, commode and lavatory. Water births are possible in this spacious tub. While both rooms provide wonderful environments in which to give birth, just which is right for you is a question only you can answer.

Regardless of the birthing room that you choose, you'll get the same great personal attention from Betty. She'll meet you at the center and stay with you throughout your labor and delivery. While laboring, you may do one of several things that you find helpful: sit (inside or outside), swing on the porch, go for a walk, relax in the whirlpool, or visit with friends and/or family. As the time of your delivery gets closer, you and Betty will be joined by a birth assistant - another nurse or midwife. The three of you - along with any others that you choose - will then work together during the arrival of your newest family member.
