Birthing Center

Thanks for visiting the Internet home of Grand Prairie's newest, woman-focused, healthcare facility. Special Beginnings is a full service Ob/Gyn clinic operated by nurse-midwife Betty Winford, CNM. Since opening in May of 2005, 33 little ladies and 50 little gentlemen have been born at the center. In addition to checking up on newborn babies and their moms, seeing two dozen (or so) expectant moms, and doing annual Gyn checkups, we are offering childbirth, childcare and lactation classes. Things are busy, but we always have time to meet you for your well-woman Gyn or Ob visit. To make an appointment or just ask a question, please give us a call. Our office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday. Our office is closed weekends. Since all after-hours calls are forwarded, please help us to be rested and fresh by saving non-urgent calls for office hours. Thank you.

Our facilities allow women the option of delivering in water. To see the spacious tub used for water births, click on the "Rose Room" link below in the Special Beginnings' Album. Special Beginnings Philosophy

We believe that birth is a natural, physiological process and not an opportunity to arbitrarily demonstrate the latest in medical interventions. Pregnant women are not sick, but individuals with babies developing inside. Each woman has a unique body, story and desires for her birth. Believing strongly that an educated woman makes good choices, we listen, educate and then listen again.
