Cash - Insurance - Medicaid
Thank you for visiting the website of Special Beginnings, Grand Prairie’s woman-focused, full-service Ob/Gyn clinic - since 2005. Special Beginnings is operated by certified nurse midwife Betty Winford. To learn more about Ms. Betty's experience and credentials, or the field of nurse-midwifery, click on "Betty's Bio," in the navigation bar below.
In addition to delivering babies at all hours of the day and night, checking up on newborn babies and their moms, seeing three dozen (or so) expectant moms, and doing annual Gyn checkups, Ms. Betty and her staff periodically offer childbirth classes. Even when things get crazy, they always have time to meet you for your well-woman Gyn or Ob visit. To make an appointment or ask a question, give Ms. Betty a call . Office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday (closed holidays). After-hours calls are forwarded, so please help Ms. Betty to be rested, by saving non-urgent calls for office hours.
The facilities at Special Beginnings offer women the option of delivering in water. To see pictures of the Rose and Bear rooms, click on the "Photo Album" link, in the navigation bar. There are also pictures of the living room, the kitchen and the office/exam room. Also, be sure to check out the "Birth Stories" link. Thank you again, for stopping by. Visit as often as you'd like.
Special Beginnings Philosophy
We believe that birth is a natural, physiological process and not an opportunity to arbitrarily demonstrate the latest in medical interventions. Pregnant women are not sick, but individuals with babies developing inside. Each woman has a unique body, story and desires for her birth. Believing strongly that an educated woman makes good choices, we listen, educate and then listen again.
Special Beginnings' Mission
To provide the women of the Grand Prairie area a woman-centered alternative to traditional medical settings for all of their obstetric and gynecologic needs.
